Flying 'wizard' crash-lands at Kasoa A man believed to be in his 70s, who claimed to.be a wizard, was on Wednesday found on the banks of the Okrudu River at Kaimebre, a settlement near the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region.. The man, who gave his name as Charles Atta, looked frail, pale and bore protruding breasts like that of a teenage girl. His body was smeared with mud from the bank of the river where he was found by two brothers, Liberty Obeng and Innocent Obeng, who claimed they found the strange man crying for help. The two brothers told Daily Guide reporters that the self-acclaimed wizard confessed to them that he was in the company of colleagues, including a medical doctor and were flying to Cape Coast for a meeting when he was forced down. E Zion basic school at Ho in the Volta Region has witnessed a bizarre situation as Prophet exhumed spiritual items from one of the classrooms on Friday to redeem pupils and teachers of failures in examination, finance and marriages. The items exhumed included female thunder stone/bolt (flat and round stone with hole at the center), pieces of red and black calico, a wood carving in the form of a human being, piece of chalk, quantity of cowries and others. Headmasters will be sanctioned- Okudjeto The Deputy Minister of Education, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, has indicated that the ministry of education would sanction headmasters who charge unapproved fees. According to him, some of the headmasters deliberately flout the directive of the ministry. He said “We had some headmasters deliberately flouting the directive. The names have been taken, and they are going through the disciplinary process. I can assure you that they will be sanctioned. There is no doubt at all. We have also said that sanctions will not be enough and that the extra fees, the extra charges must be deducted from the fees of the next term”. He expressed dismayed at the way some of the heads of schools charge extra fee from students. President Mahama cuts sod for 5,000 affordable housing units As part of government’s plan to reduce housing deficit by 2016, the President, John Dramani Mahama has cut sod for the commencement of 5,000 affordable housing units for low and middle income earners across the country. Speaking at the ceremony, the President indicated that government expects a significant number of the houses to be completed and delivered by Construtora OAS, a Brazilian construction firm, before end of 2016. This construct adds to several partnerships between the two countries with the latest being a 74 million euros Brazilian government loan to fund a three-tier interchange at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra. AMA evicts traders at Tip Toe Lane for Kwame Nkrumah Interchange   Hundreds of traders along the popular Tip Toe Lane at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra were yesterday forcibly ejected in what the police said was the beginning of a widespread exercise to pave the way for the construction of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange. Container shops, a prayer space for Muslims, kiosks and other wooden structures were all pulled down, while their owners salvaged their property. But the exercise left in its trail bitter comments between the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso Central, Mr Henry Quartey, and the Greater Accra Regional Police Director of Operations, Chief Superintendent Mr Sylvester Bayuo.
